Wickword Privacy Policy
Effective October 21, 2026
The short version
Wickword collects as little as possible. There are no ads, no ad trackers, and we never sell your data. Wickword is run by Joshua D'Alessio, an individual in Maine, USA.
What we collect
- Display name you choose, shown on leaderboards, challenges, and leagues.
- Scores and game results: your score, number of words found, the words themselves (to check scores are real), the board or challenge code, and the time.
- An anonymous device ID: a random code made by the App so we can tell your scores apart. It isn't tied to your name, email, or phone number.
- League membership: which leagues you've joined and your weekly totals.
- Purchase status: whether you have Plus, confirmed through Google Play or the App Store. We never receive your card or payment details.
We don't ask for your email, contacts, location, or photos.
Stored on your phone
Most of your progress (personal bests, stats, streaks, settings, free-game count) is kept only on your device. Deleting the App or its data erases it.
How we use it
To run leaderboards, tournaments, challenges, and leagues; to prevent cheating; to manage Plus and invite rewards; and to fix bugs. That's it.
Who we share it with
Other players see your display name and scores. Our servers run on Cloudflare, which stores and processes this data for us. Google and Apple handle purchases under their own privacy policies. We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Hourly tournament scores: about 3 days. Daily Tournament scores: about 60 days. Challenge and league records: as long as needed to run them, then deleted. All-time high scores may be kept until removed. These periods may change.
Children
Wickword is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Your choices
You can change your display name in the App. To ask us to delete your scores and names from our servers, email [email protected] with your display name and roughly when you played. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights to access or delete your data; contact us and we'll help.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure.
Changes
If we update this policy we'll change the effective date above and, for big changes, note it in the App.
